What to watch for

Personal information is governed by POPIA; in financial services the FSCA/PA Joint Standard on cybersecurity (effective 1 June 2025) applies, and ICASA and other bodies provide sector guidance. South Africa has no binding, horizontal AI law — confirm the current position with the relevant authority before you act.

Keep human oversight on important decisions, and keep sensitive information in a secure environment, out of public models.
